Craniosacral therapy may help with the treatment of many conditions:
depression
migraine
sinusitis
spinal and pelvic pain
some psychological conditions
allergies
arthritis
back pain
birth trauma
colic
digestive problems
exhaustion
frozen shoulder
headaches and migraines
hormonal imbalance
stress
. What happens in a cranialsacral therapy session?
The craniosacral therapist will begin by taking a detailed medical history asking about the symptoms you are experiencing and any problems you may have had in the past. You will then lie fully clothed on the treatment couch and the craniosacral therapist will then place their hands lightly on your body with a sensitive “listening” touch. Contact is very light and therefore you should always feel at ease with the treatment.
The first thing that you will probably notice is a very deep sense of relaxation and this will probably continue throughout the craniosacral therapy treatment. With further craniosacral therapy treatment you may experience this relaxation moving into everyday life.
Although many people initially come to see a craniosacral therapist for physical aches and pains and chronic disease conditions such as those listed below, many continue on because of an increased sense of wellbeing. Craniosacral therapy works on the body as a whole and many conditions that show up in the body, such as pain or stiffness may also contain emotional or behavioural components. The craniosacral therapist will work with you to help address these problems and help to release them during the treatment. Many people find the treatment can help them to resolve past events, issues that may be traced back to past experiences.
Most people find craniosacral therapy treatment profoundly relaxing, leading them to feel more centred and connected within themselves, and can help improve their coping mechanism, feeling much calmer and in control.
Who can benefit from craniosacral treatment?
Craniosacral therapy treatment is so gentle that it is suitable for everyone. It is suitable for those who are fragile or who are suffering from acute painful conditions. You may be able to experience a number of different sensations and emotions:
