Shiatsu | Nottingham | West Bridgford | Wellbeing Clinic| Nottingham
Shiatsu based in West Bridgford, Nottingham, East Midlands area offering Shiatsu.

We asked Marie our Shiatsu therapist what she enjoyed most about the treatment of Shiatsu.

"Most peoples first experience of Shiatsu is for an achy back or tight muscles, it is only after the first session that they begin to realise and experience the benefits Shiatsu has on them emotionally as well as physically. Many of my clients say they experience a sense of clam, they find relief from the stresses and strains of everyday life, for me Shiatsu is a true mind body therapy"

Shiatsu can help with:
Relaxing the nervous system reducing stress and anxiety
Promoting physical and emotional flexibility
Balancing and relaxing the musculoskeletal structure
Maintain the normal function of all the internal organs
Calming emotions and promoting clearer thinking
Improving the immune system function
Promoting good sleep
Assisting normal menstrual cycle
Improved digestion and breathing
Supporting self development

As a holistic form of treatment, Shiatsu supports the self-healing responses. It focuses on the whole person improving the body-mind-spirit well being. ShiatsuNottingham (pronounced Shee-at-soo)? is a Japanese holistic therapy influenced by the Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is based on the theories of Acupuncture but whilst Acupuncture uses needles, Shiatsu Nottingham uses thumb pressure to achieve a complete harmony between the mind and body.

The spirit of Shiatsu is communicated via a non-intrusive touch. It is the quality of touch that allows one to receive care and warmth by invoking the body’s natural healing responses. The focus of the touch is directed along energy channels called meridians and the object of the therapy is to restore or rebalance the Qi (the life force energy) found within the meridian system of the body.

What to expect in a shiatsu session?

Your Shiatsu treatment will be given on a soft futon mattress on the floor. This allows the practitioner to use various rocking, stretching and manipulation techniques which are otherwise difficult to do on a massage table.

Throughout the shiatsu treatment you will remain fully clothed. It is suggested that you wear loose fitting and comfortable clothes, preferably made of natural fibres.

An average treatment lasts about 60 minutes. The first session may be slightly longer as the practitioner will need to take a detailed case history to develop a complete picture of the client’s health according to the principles of oriental medicine.
