Hot stone massage uses basalt massage stones, heated in water until they are comfortably warm. Basalt is a black volcanic rock that contains many beneficial minerals. The hot stone massage therapist places the stones on areas of tension and inflammation, as well as using them to massage the body. The massage can be light or deep, depending on your preference. The hot stones melt tension and stress away, and the massage induces a state of calm and relaxation.

The deep, penetrating heat improves the flow of blood and lymph around the body, enhances muscle tone and reduces stiffness. Hot stone massage is particularly beneficial for long-standing muscle problems. Sometimes, cold stones may be used are used in combination with the hot, a method known as contrast bathing.

Like being in front of a fire, cosy and warm on a cold winter’s day, hot stone massage enables you to find a calm and peaceful place within yourself. People often describe feeling as if they are light and floating – able to fully relax and let go, with no stress or tension left at all.

Our hot stone massage therapist, Annice is expert at helping your stress melt away she is fully qualified and experienced massage therapist with a sound understanding of the musculoskeletal system.
