Focus on Nicola Price Acupuncturist
We have so many talented practitioners here, I wanted to take some time to focus on each of them individually. This week I spent some time with our resident acupuncturist, Nicola price, to find out what she loves most about her job as a therapist.
How long have you been practicing acupuncture?
I qualified in 1997 and have been practicing ever since.
What made you decide to become an acupuncturist?
I suffered with anxiety, and I tried every treatment and therapy I could think of, but nothing worked for me until I tried acupuncture. It really was the only therapy that had a tangible effect for me, and the relief was immediate after my first session. I was hooked!
What is the favourite part of your job?
Making an impact on people’s health without using drugs, or any nasty side effects. Making positive changes to people’s lives is so rewarding.
What kind of conditions do you most commonly treat with acupuncture?
Aches and pains, fertility issues, and anxiety and depression seem to be what I treat the most.
When you are practicing acupuncture, what do you like treating the most?
Anxiety and depression, as you see immediate results, and a big overall improvement in a short period of time. I also enjoy treating women with fertility issues, if a patient becomes pregnant after a long time of trying, it’s so wonderful to know that you have helped with that, and so satisfying as a therapist.
And finally, when you’re not practicing acupuncture, what do you enjoy doing?
I love dancing; I am a member of a dance company so dancing is a big part of my life. I also speak fluent French, and enjoy listening to French radio. I like to keep fit and active, and I love travelling and seeing the world. When I’m at home, I’m happy to lose myself in a good book, or spend time with friends. I have a very hectic social life!
